Intel Corp. (stock: INTC) said it has begun sampling InfiniBand I/O silicon to selected customers, including host channel adapters, switches, and target products. "We're very happy with the early functionality," said Philip Brace, director of the Platform Components Division at Intel, Santa Clara, Calif. Two startups, Mellanox Technologies and Banderacom, were also founded in part to develop InfiniBand silicon, and products are expected from established chip vendors such as Texas Instruments, Inc. (stock: TXN) and Mylex Corp.
