Les Crudele is Named CEO of Banderacom,
A Leading InfiniBand Startup
Austin, Texas - November 30, 2000 - Banderacom, Inc., an InfiniBand™ semiconductor start-up company, today announced Les Crudele has joined Banderacom as Chief Executive Officer. Crudele, providing more than 30 years of high tech product development and management expertise, will be responsible for the strategic direction and continued growth of this dynamic new company.
"From its inception, Banderacom's leadership was handpicked for its strength and experience," said Stephen Straus, Austin Ventures. "Crudele's extensive track record in the semiconductor industry as well as networking and high performance computing industries will drive the company's growth as it matures into the next phase of development."
Crudele most recently served on the board of directors of Quantum Effect Devices (QED), a fabless semiconductor company focused on high-performance MIPS embedded microprocessors for the networking industry. He helped to oversee QED's management operations and played a key role in all aspects of the company's corporate strategy. QED was purchased by PMC Sierra earlier this year.
Prior to QED, Crudele served as vice president and general manager of the Workstation Division, Enterprise Computing Group at Compaq Computer in Houston, Texas. Under Crudele's leadership the workstation business grew from $40 million to over $400 million in revenue and went from a point product to a full line of workstations.
Formerly, Crudele held several positions at Motorola, Inc. in the Semiconductor Product Sector and in the Communications Division. Les was vice president and general manager of the RISC Division that developed the PowerPC processors in conjunction with IBM and Apple as well as the business unit responsible for the manufacture, marketing, and sales of both the PowerPC and MC88000 families. Prior to this he was the assistant general manager of the High End Computing Division for MC68000 and MC88000 families; member of the 68000 founding team and chief architect for 68008, 68010 and 68020 products for Motorola.
Crudele was also a founding member of Stellar Computer, the first maker of Graphics Supercomputers. While at Stellar, he was responsible for developing the design methodology. Crudele, a founding member and director of engineering at MIPs Computer, developed the design methodology that was used on the MIPs R2000 series of processor elements as well as the original system architecture used on the MIPs board level products. Crudele's experience includes Apollo Computer, where he developed a new ventures team that made several venture investments. Crudele holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University.
"Joining Banderacom has presented a rare, incredible and exciting opportunity for me," said Les Crudele, chief executive officer of Banderacom. "The company clearly has a strong engineering development and management team in place and is poised to be the leader in the emerging InfiniBand market - it's a win-win situation."
"Banderacom is now on the 'launch pad' to succeed and I am happy to find someone of Les' credentials to step in and guide the company through the next phase of development and growth," said Eric Johnson, founding CEO of Banderacom.
