Banderacom™, Lane15 Software™, and Wind River Systems®; Demonstrate Industry's First InfiniBand™ Ethernet Router Target Channel Adaptor Prototype at Intel® Development Forum

San Jose, California - February 26, 2001 - Intel Developer Forum - Banderacom™, a leading fabless InfiniBand™ semiconductor company, Lane15 Software™, the leading developer of InfiniBand management software and Wind River Systems® (Nasdaq: WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected smart devices in the Internet age, today announced they will demonstrate a prototype of the industry's first InfiniBand Ethernet router target channel adapter (TCA) at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF). The demonstration will take place in Banderacom's booth (#310) and Lane15's booth (#316), located in IDF's “InfiniBand Central,” February 27 through March 1.

The Ethernet target system demonstration features an InfiniBand host server connected to a prototype InfiniBand TCA built with Banderacom's IBandit prototype chip set, a Target Development Software Suite running on VxWorks® software developed by Wind River, and the Lane15 Fabric Manager and Management Agent prototypes. The InfiniBand server will connect over an InfiniBand link to the InfiniBand Ethernet router TCA. Several Ethernet workstation and PC clients will be connected to the TCA. Each client will independently run a variety of high bandwidth applications over InfiniBand, such as disk backup, MPEG-2 video, video conferencing, and InfiniBand subnet management programs to demonstrate the speed, performance, flexibility and robustness of InfiniBand connectivity.

“Banderacom is working with Lane15 and Wind River to demonstrate that, by breaking the bandwidth bottleneck in the first fifty feet of Internet infrastructure, InfiniBand unleashes the potential of the Internet to deliver high definition video and other broadband services to anyone at any time,” said Les Crudele, president and CEO, Banderacom. “Banderacom's IBandit architecture enables our customers to build the high performance systems that realize the tremendous potential of InfiniBand.”

Complementing Banderacom's InfiniBand chip set are Ethernet devices and software provided by 3Com for the TCA demonstration.

Wind River Systems' and Lane15's software are critical components of Banderacom's InfiniBand product development kit (PDK) from which the demonstration was built. Both companies' software products work with Banderacom's silicon to enable rapid prototype development. Wind River's VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS), communications software and prototype InfiniBand software allowed development of the TCA prototype in just a few weeks. Lane15's software provides the critical InfiniBand subnet management and target management functionality.

“InfiniBand is a critical enabler to the next generation of server and storage devices, and one of Wind River's missions is to be a leading software supplier for InfiniBand-powered devices,” said David Fraser, vice president and general manager, Wind River Systems' Networks business unit. “Our partnership with Banderacom is a key component of that strategy.”

“Interoperability is a critical issue for the development and deployment of heterogeneous InfiniBand networks,” said Alisa Nessler, president and CEO, Lane15 Software. “This demonstration of Lane15's InfiniBand management software working with Banderacom's IBandit chip and Wind River's VxWorks marks a significant milestone in the pace at which the industry leaders will move InfiniBand forward.”

ABOUT INFINIBAND
InfiniBand is an industry standards-based interconnect technology that dramatically increases scalability, reliability and flexibility of server and storage systems used in modern networks. InfiniBand is expected to replace Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, SCSI and PCI as the technologies currently required to connect today's storage and server networks. InfiniBand provides a universal interconnect fabric enabling new, lower cost, higher performance and more reliable networks that are not possible today.

The InfiniBand Trade Association is an industry trade organization dedicated to developing and promoting the InfiniBand architecture. More information about the InfiniBand Trade Association and specifications can be found at www.infinibandta.org.

ABOUT WIND RIVER
Wind River is a worldwide leader in embedded software. Wind River provides software development tools, real-time operating systems, and advanced connectivity for use in products throughout the Internet, telecommunications and data communications, digital imaging, digital consumer electronics, networking, medical, computer peripherals, automotive, industrial automation and control, and aerospace/defense markets. Wind River is how smart things think. Founded in 1983, Wind River is headquartered in Alameda, California, with operations in sixteen countries worldwide.

ABOUT LANE15 SOFTWARE
Lane15 Software is the leading developer of fabric management software for heterogeneous InfiniBand networks. The company's open, vendor-neutral products will be an early requirement for the development, testing, and deployment of InfiniBand hardware products as well as a key to the successful exploitation of InfiniBand in customer environments. InfiniBand hardware and software vendors will benefit from reduced time-to-market for new InfiniBand products, lower development costs for building required fabric management elements, ensured interoperability, and vastly accelerated customer and industry adoption of InfiniBand technology. Lane15 is headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company is a member of the InfiniBand Trade Association. For additional information about Lane15, visit www.lane15.com.
