SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 2001--Intel Developer Forum -Banderacom™, a leading fabless InfiniBand™ semiconductor company, Lane15 Software™, the leading developer of InfiniBand management software and WindRiver Systems(R) (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected smart devices in the Internet age, today announced they will demonstrate a prototype of the industry's first InfiniBand Ethernet router target channel adapter (TCA) at the Intel(R) Developer Forum (IDF). The demonstration will take place in Banderacom's booth (No.310) and Lane15 booth (No.316) located in IDF's "InfiniBand ROW" February 27 through March 1.

The InfiniBand Ethernet target system demonstration features a Banderacom InfiniBand host server connected to a prototype InfiniBand TCA built with Banderacom's IBandit prototype chip set, a Target Development Software Suite running on VxWorks® software developed by Wind River, and the Lane15 Fabric Manager and Management Agent prototypes. Complementing Banderacom's InfiniBand chips are Ethernet devices and software provided by 3Com Corporation for this prototype demonstration. The InfiniBand server will connect over an InfiniBand link to the InfiniBand Ethernet router TCA. Several Ethernet workstation and PC clients will be connected to the TCA. Each client will independently run a variety of high bandwidth applications over InfiniBand, such as disk backup, MPEG-2 video, video conferencing, and InfiniBand subnet management programs to demonstrate the speed, performance, flexibility , and robustness of InfiniBand connectivity.

"Banderacom is working with Lanel5, and Wind River to demonstrate that, by breaking the bandwidth bottleneck in the first 50-feet of Internet infrastructure, InfiniBand unleashes the potential of the Internet to deliver high-definition video and other broadband services to anyone at anytime," said Les Crudele, president and CEO, Banderacom. "Banderacom's IBandit architecture enables our customers to build the high performance systems that realize the tremendous potential of InfiniBand."

Wind River Systems software and Lane15 software are critical components of Banderacom's InfiniBand product development kit (PDK) from which the demonstration was built. Both companies' software products work together with Banderacom's silicon to enable rapid prototype development. Wind River's VxWorks real-time operating system {RTOS), communications software, and prototype InfiniBand software allowed development of the TCA prototype in just a few weeks. Lanel5's software provides the critical InfiniBand subnet management and target management functionality.

"InfiniBand is a critical enabler to the next generation of server and storage devices, and one of Wind River's mission is to be a leading software supplier for InfiniBand-powered devices," said David Fraser, vice president and general manager of Wind River Systems' Networks business unit. "Our partnership with Banderacom is a key component of that strategy."

"Interoperability is a critical issue for the development and deployment of heterogeneous InfiniBand networks," said Alisa Nessler, president and CEO ofLane15 Software. "This demonstration ofLane15's InfiniBand management software working with Banderacom's IBandit chip and Wind River's VxWorks marks a significant milestone in the pace at which the industry leaders will move InfiniBand forward."
